A cannot-missed day trip from Prague, Kutná Hora, is less than an hour and a half ride away. This medieval town was the second most important city in Bohemia for is rich silver deposits and mining industry.. It's fairly small so you can see everything in day. Many buildings in the town are inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The highlight is St. Barbora's Cathedral and the Bone Church.

History Highlight

  • In 1300 a Czech king found the royal mint.
  • The fortune from this town helped funding Prague and building one of the most impressive Gothic Cathedral in Europe, St. Barbara.
  • Many miners were Germans hired by the Czech kings. During the Hussite Wars (Protestants against Catholic), the Catholic Germans threw captured Hussites into the mineshafts.
